I'd like to see a no tolerance rule to protect the goalies, here is what I propose:

1. If the puck is not loose the play is dead, if the goalie has in his pads or on his person the opposing team should stop attacking immediately

2. Nobody is allowed in the blue ice even immediately after a goal or else the goal is waved off

If a goal is scored under either of the two rules the goal is called off and it can not be contested.

I realize this may sound over the top to most people and there are only a hand full of people who this would apply to. The rules are simply to protect people because I have personally been run over, slufooted, slashed and even two handed in the arm while holding the puck. We’re all here to have a good time and accidents will happen but if you’re not a good skater and can’t stop on a dime then you shouldn’t be going full tilt into the goalie on a break away, I had someone run me over feet first last game. I also had someone in that same game standing in the blue ice slash my arm while trying to deflect the shot knocking my arm down and of course preventing me from catching the puck.

I feel if everyone knew that no goal would be allowed if these two rules were imposed then we wouldn’t have people playing so wrecklesly and putting others and themselves at risk of an unnecessary injury.

I do agree that we need to address this as the goalies are getting abused more than I would like. I am going to try and get a meeting with the team captains maybe next Tues and get some rules implemented. I do appreciate the feedback Derek and I will try to get this remedied as we do not want goalies or anyone for that matter being injured.

I've heard a lot about stick work out on the ice but at least when you play out you can do something about it but as a goalie I'm in one spot and I only have padding facing the front and nothing in the back and a few people occasionally act like we'd never get hurt. I don't want to act like there are a lot of people doing it but there are a few who take it a bit too seriously and don't care for the safety of others, we all have to get up and go to work in the morning.

I could but I'd be creating the very thing I'm trying to prevent.

Hey man, you said it yourself in your 2nd par. that when your a player, you can do something about it(The stick work). Maybe you could get some help from your players when this stuff happens...... I no that If I see someone slashing my goalie, I would do something about it. I am not talking about starting a fight here..............Doucet...OUT

I don't think having a player (Tyson Doucet ) will fix the problem. When we started this I knew it would get more competitive but not at the goalies expense. I know for myself I get pumped and the adrenaline gets going but I can also hold back. I think there are a few guys that take it a little too far and I will have the discussion with the team captains to get this rectified. I don't want goalies or players having to deal with this stuff. I know there are going to be some issues but I would liek to try to keep them at a minimum.

Commish OUT!

We're all adults out there. I think we should still act like adults even if competition's involve. Without having to have to police ourselves or to take revenge on each other because our stick landed on a soft spot on the goalie. Courtisie is also a must. If we feel one of our action could of resulted in an injury we should be a gentleman (it is a gentleman league. No???) and ask the other person if they're ok. A stick is a piece of wood so history thaught us that when you hit somebody with a piece of wood it generaly will hurt the other person. So lets be smarther than lab mouses here and avoid stuff that will evidently hurt another player or goalie.

Izzy out... Also not trying to start a fight. I just think that the main reason we play every week is to have fun. And arriving at work with a gap in your front teeths isn't fun.

Way to go Izzy. Can't agree more with your comments. I know it's hard to put the words in one sentence..."Gentlemen and Hockey." At some of our ages; not pointing fingers or anything, the testosterone is fairly empty and one of the most important issues is whether or not the beer has a cold froth on the bottle or glass. Any way fellas just trying to add a little humor. May your beer be cold and use a coaster...

Hey Mike, I wasn't wearing a skirt, I was underneath it. Even playing with a skirt, I'm still a better hockey player....
